After foreclosure proceedings are started is there any way to save your house?
Bankruptcy will probably not save your house. You really need to talk to your bank to find out what your options are. In most cases, just paying it up to date is all it takes...but you will have to pay legal fees, too. Unfortunately, the government programs that are out there kinda stink...timing is everything. If you contact them when you feel like you are going to start having problems, it's too early. If you are already too far along in the foreclosure proceedings, it's too late. Argh!! Really, I would say...call your bank and find out if there is ANYTHING you can do. If you are civil to them, they are easier to work with than you think. Banks really don't want your house...they have too many foreclosures on the books as is, and they are just losing money on them. What they want are borrowers who actually pay promptly on their loans. Try to work with them. You might be surprised.
