Why don't they teach you the reality of life after university / college?

I think that although college teaches you a lot, ultimately, it's more of a "weeding" of the ones who aren't fit to survive those four or five years. If you apply for a job and show you've got a college degree it says a lot about you (the least being you're smart because you don't need a college degree to be smart) but it does say that you have the discipline to start something and pull your way through. It shows that you're well-rounded because in college we have to take cles that ain't got nothing to do with our degrees. Thus, it shows that you're willing to to be follow the rules in order to get a degree. Sure, there may be lots and lots of people smarter than us without degrees, but corporations are looking for smarts AND college degrees. It's a filtering system becuase I'm sure that our degrees, although 4+ years, could've been accomplished in 2compact years but they make it four so that only the real " tough" ones tough it out.
