Has anyone had any luck getting orchardists to stop using m-80's or dynamite to scare away birds?
I live in WA State in the Eastern zone next to orchards. About 14 years ago they started using what I call "cherry bombs" to scare the birds several times a day. At first it was around 7am to 7pmish. Now they start as early as 3:30am and go until 8pm. My dogs and the rest of the dogs in the community go nuts when these go off. Needless to say it has cost me time and money having to put an outside dog in the house (usually at 4am when I'm sleeping), but my dog actually chewed out and/or jumped often getting picked up by the dog catcher, causing me to go to court and pay a fine. I want to write a complaint, but the commissioners here are all orchardists, and the community is supported by the crops. Sometimes there are so many "bombs" going off that it feels like a war zone. At times the bombs actually go off continuously throughout the night. Has anyone ever dealt with this, and if so, how? It's a noise ordinance problem as well as pain and punishment for all animals.
